50. The establishment of Indian Independence League (1920s - 1940s)
The Indian Independence League aimed to mobilise Indians living abroad, especially in Southeast Asia, to support the cause of Indian independence and to contribute to the Indian National Army (INA). It was a political organisation that operated from the 1920s to the 1940s. Founded by Indian nationalists, its activities were conducted in various parts of Southeast Asia. The League came to interact and command the first Indian National Army under Mohan Singh before it was dissolved. Later, it came under the leadership of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, whose leadership and vision were instrumental in galvanising support for the Indian freedom struggle on the global stage.
